PEYTON HOUSE

Type

Single Family Residence, New Construction

Location

Keswick, Virgina

Description

On undeveloped land in the rolling hills of Virginia’s piedmont this project encompassed comprehensive plans for its architecture, its landscape and its interiors which embody the grace and ambiance of the region’s historic charm. The exteriors include beautifully detailed brick and stone masonry, classical large scale mouldings and trim details, a classical portico, and ornamented dormers which provide a level of architectural detail not often found today. The interiors provide further architectural details and furnishings on a sumptuous level.

Of particular note is the custom cherry-wood kitchen cabinetry with soapstone countertops, a grand mahogany staircase, an impressively-scaled classical living room mantlepiece, and a gentleman’s library with a built-in mahogany secretary cabinet.

The grounds now include a verdant range of shade and ornamental trees, a lush assortment of classical shrubbery, and beautiful perennial gardens throughout. The house incorporates environmentally sustainable technology including a cost effective geo-thermal system for radiant heating, cooling, and water heating. It also includes an insulation package that exceeds typical standards, and a water supply and waste system that is efficient and self contained.
