These tools of communication result in a mutual and cooperative understanding between the client and himself. From there designs are fleshed out through schematic design drawings, design development, and an exploration of potential materials, finishes, fittings, and furnishings. Eventually he produces working drawings and specifications through which a project can be evaluated for feasibility, costs, and for construction purposes. Upon completion his ultimate goal is that clients will find that their finished project transcends their expectations for aesthetic appeal and useful function, and is something with which they can identify as a reflection of themselves.
Steve imbues each project with the unique character of the client's desires, into a custom design which takes into account their practical needs with existing conditions and budgetary considerations. Projects evolve through a reciprocal listening and learning process that results in the creation of conceptual drawings, sometimes hand sketches, other times hard-line drawings, which are a reflection of these conversations. Mr. Harris encourages clients to share their full range of ideas both verbally and with images to demonstrate their hopes and dreams.
