Description

This new home reflects the client’s interest in French country house architecture. Built on a very narrow lot within an exclusive older neighborhood, the design illusion is a home built in three successive stages: a French barn to the rear, a middle section resembling a French farmhouse, and at the front an affluent French country maison. Clad with masonry stucco and a wood shake roof, the house’s exterior details are drawn from a lexicon of historic French architectural styles. The interiors are similarly inspired and include an open kitchen and den, and a generous living room and dining room next to a central hall with a winding stairway. The second floor includes a primary bedroom and two guest bedrooms all en-suite. A side terrace accessed through an arcade invites alfresco relaxation and entertainment.
